City pools to open thanks to donations
Friday, July 10, 2009The City teamed up with the Urban League and other community organizations to raise enough donations to open city pools and splash pads across the city.
Today, Mayor Finkbeiner held a news conference to announce the Summer Swimming Program, just in time for summer heat and humidity.
The City teamed up with the Urban League and other community organizations to raise enough donations to open city pools and splash pads across the city. The Adopt a Pool Program will ensure, that even as the city struggles to fund critical services, kids will have a place to cool off this summer.
The Monroe Street United Methodist church raised $5,000 for the water playground. The Economic Opportunity Planning Association raised $80,000 to open local pools and there is $50,000 in the Toledo city parks trust fund that was also used
